If you are fond of the Compass Rose, also known as a “Wind Rose,” you’ll love this timeless icon on your desktop, window sill or night stand. There is nothing else that reminds us to steer our own course toward the destination of our choosing than the compass rose.

ABOUT THIS DESIGN
This is an original design that I’ve been drawing for many years in some form or fashion. It was inspired by the movie, “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir” and when I hold it, I am immediately transported to a little windblown cottage by the sea. The blue glass reminds me of the crystal clear, blue waters of The Florida Keys and The Bahamas. The compass rose, a timeless symbol, tells me I’ll always find my way back. It is my signature piece at Seaside Stained Glass Studio and I hope you enjoy this “rune” as much as I do (I use mine as a fidget toy when I am in a creative, dreamy mood).

COLORS
The color shown here is TURQUOISE and is an example of how your Compass Rose will appear indoors, on your desk, coffee table or window sill. Turquoise is similar to Aquamarine and sometimes the names of the colors are used interchaneably. If you do not see the color you would like, please send me a message. If I have the glass in stock, I can make and ship within a week.

HANDMADE WITH LASER HELP
Making this piece of art is a multi-step process that begins with hand-scoring and grinding glass. I make the wood squares that hold the glass with my laser. Before lasering, I mask both sides of wood with a protective tape. Then, the compass rose is laser-cut for consistent results across many pieces. The tape is removed and the wood is then lightly sanded to remove most of the gummy smoke marks. It is normal for some marks to remain. I embed the glass between the two pieces of wood and bond the pieces together. Then, I lightly sand the edges for a slightly distressed look. The result is a piece of art you can hold in your hand, place in a window or set on a table.
